Reaction to the Ozark (Arkansas) Mountain Region tourism association from eh top tourism official in Arkansas Joe David Rice (as quoted in Saturday’s Lexington Herald-Leader):

“Evidently we have a nut in the tourism business over here," Rice said. "We want to distance ourselves from him as much as we can. He's embarrassed us. He is not speaking for the state."

"I think he sat down at the dock and got too much sun," before authorizing the release, Rice said.

The press release that was included in Friday’s Lake Cumberland Newsletter (touting the response letter from KY Tourism Commissioner Randy Fiveash to the Ozark Mountain Region tourism association’s inaccurate press release trying to woe tourists away from Lake Cumberland) was sent out via PR Newsire, the same method the Ozark Mountain Region group used; presumably to the same media distribution list as well.
