THREE MORE RAMPS OPEN – THREE MORE ON THE WAY
Ramps at Jasper Bend, Ryan’s Landing in Clinton County and Cave Springs Marina in Russell County (Jabez) are now open. This brings the total number of ramps available for use to 49.

Three more ramps have applied for funds to be extended. Decisions, and work, will happen soon. This would bring the total number of ramps available for use to 52.

There is a total of over 301,900 gallons of grout in 384 holes along the embankment.
To date, over 309,927 gallons of grout have been pumped into the foundation.
Trout stockings in several lakes advanced
Frankfort, Ky. – Trout stockings originally scheduled for January and February in several lakes across Kentucky are being moved to November and December due to repairs scheduled for the Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery.
Officials with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers plan to make repairs to the hatchery’s water intake structures in January, reducing the amount of water available to the hatchery. During the repairs, the hatchery will be using water supplied by two temporary pumps. The diminished water flows to the hatchery reduces the hatchery’s holding capacity, and therefore trout must be stocked before the work begins. The hatchery, located south of Jamestown below Lake Cumberland’s Wolf Creek Dam, supplies all the trout for Kentucky stockings.
As part of the new schedule, Woods Creek Lake, Cannon Creek Lake, Cranks Creek Lake, Fish Pond Lake, Bert Combs Lake, Beulah Lake and Paintsville Lake will receive trout from Nov. 26-29.
Laurel Lake will receive its trout stocking from Dec. 3-7.
Laurel Lake and Paintsville Lake will receive additional trout stockings from Dec.10-14.
Other lakes scheduled to receive trout during this week include Mill Creek Lake, Prisoner’s Lake, Three Springs Park Lake and four lakes at Peabody Wildlife Management Area: Island, Musky, Bottom and Goose.
Greenbo Lake and the Upper and Lower Sportsman’s Lakes at Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Headquarters in Frankfort will receive trout stockings in January, as originally scheduled.

JABEZ - The much-anticipated relocation of the former Alligator Dock #1 has finally begun, according to Ed Slusser, owner of what will soon be Cave Springs Marina.
The relocation site of the marina in eastern Russell County, on Island Ramp Rd. in Jabez, has taken on a new appearance. Some dock segments from Alligator #1 have recently been floated down Wolf Creek to the marina's new location, Slusser said.
The marina is being forced to relocate three miles from its original location rather than lose millions in profits through the duration of the 7-year $309 million dam rehabilitation project.
"We already have 50 slips down here and we hope to get 50 more the next trip we make," he said.
Slusser said he is being helped in the move mostly by volunteers with slips at the marina.
"It helps a big deal to have folks like that helping out," Slusser said.
A total of 400 slips will be at Cave Springs when the relocation process is finalized, the same amount that was at the previous location, he said.
"We hope to have all houseboat slips down here by the end of the year," he said. "After that, we hope to have coverage slips and everything else moved by March."
Slusser said that next week power transformers would be hooked up to supply electricity the new dock.
The project, which Slusser had projected would cost in the $3-$4 million range, will not cost that much after all.
"It has cut back quite a bit from our initial numbers," he said. "But I'm not sure of the dollar amount just yet."
Also the new, repaved boat ramp at the dock is fully operational now. Slusser said customers would benefit greatly from it.
"The ramp is working great, we've been using it for two or three weeks and it's been just great," Slusser said.
He also said that Cave Springs Rd. and Island Ramp Rd. have been repaved past an "End State Maintenance" sign heading toward the marina, making for a much smoother drive.
"It was very rough before but now everything is nice and smooth and will benefit us greatly," he said.
A new parking area is also in the process of being constructed at the end of Island Ramp Rd. near the dock while several more parking areas will be paved at the "top of the hill" before heading to the dock, according to Slusser.
The most significantly impacted marina in the county by the work on the dam, Slusser now has his sights set on being a fully functional marina at the new location by next summer.
Slusser has said his marina had lost around 60 percent of its annual business due to the lowered lake levels and dip in tourism numbers, more than any of the four commercial marinas in Russell County.
He has also said he hopes to send out brochures to past and existing customers at his marina while advertising in houseboat magazines and at boat shows about the relocated Cave Springs Marina.
Slusser also welcomed anyone wishing to view progress on the marina to go take a look, but added a caution: "If you're in a boat, try and idle around with not much wake while we continue to bring in slips," he said. "We don't want anyone to get hurt."
The past few weekends, Slusser has noticed more and more people checking out the work in the area.
With the new year less than a month away, Slusser said he is finally pleased with the progress that has been made at the dock.
